Who we are
Speak Saigon (the “Service”) is operated by Munro Innovations, based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. Contact us at riley@speaksaigon.com.
Information we collect
Account: your email address and a securely hashed password.
Learning data: your progress, exercise answers, streaks, XP, and achievements. For speaking exercises, audio you record is sent to our service to transcribe your speech and is not stored (see “Speaking practice & audio” below).
Conversation/AI features: the text you submit (e.g. messages in conversation practice) so we can generate responses and feedback.
Payment: if you subscribe, Stripe processes your payment. We receive limited billing details and identifiers from Stripe but we never see or store your full card number.
Technical: basic logs (e.g. IP address, browser type) needed to operate and secure the Service.
How we use your data
To provide and personalize the Service (track progress, schedule reviews, award XP/achievements); to process subscriptions; to keep accounts secure and prevent abuse; to communicate with you about your account (e.g. password resets); and to improve the Service.
Who we share it with
We use trusted third parties to run the Service: Stripe for payments; AI providers (e.g. Anthropic and/or OpenAI) which receive the text content needed to generate and check exercises and conversation responses; and our hosting/email providers. We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data if required by law.
Speaking practice & audio
When you do a speaking exercise, the audio you record is sent to our service solely to transcribe and assess your pronunciation for that exercise. It is processed transiently in memory and is not stored or retained — we keep no audio recordings of your voice.
Cookies & sessions
We use a single, secure session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Data retention
We keep your account and learning data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records (e.g. for tax or legal reasons).
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact riley@speaksaigon.com. Canadian users may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; EU/UK users may complain to their local data protection authority.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls) to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than where you live (for example, where our providers operate). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified (e.g. by email or in-app). The “Last updated” date shows the current version.
